At the departments under the Institute of East Asian Studies—such as the Department of Chinese Studies, Department of Japanese Studies, Department of Korean Studies, Department of Mongolian and Inner Asian Studies, and the Department of Buddhist and Tibetan Studies—it is possible to choose a specialization within the Bachelor's program in Eastern Languages and Cultures (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan specialization).

The primary goal of the Institute's BA programs is for students to acquire a high level of proficiency in one of the East Asian languages and to become familiar with East Asian culture. The language of instruction for our Bachelor's programmes is Hungarian.

The specializations (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, and, in addition to Tibetan, Buddhism) can also be taken as minors.

Students may continue their studies in MA and PhD programs, some of which are available in English.
